HAVCO is the council for voluntary service in Haringey. We are an independent registered charity that exists to support, promote and develop voluntary and community organisations in Haringey.
We run a number of projects to support voluntary and community organisations in Haringey, including funding advice, community accountancy and Haringey's Volunteer Centre. All HAVCO's services are provided free of charge to voluntary and community organisations in Haringey.

The Haringey Community Link Forum (HCLF) is conducting elections for the municipal years 2010-2012. We are seeking new Representatives to take up the 24 seats available across the Haringey Strategic Partnership (HSP) Structure.

Moving Forward...Together
In 2009 the Haringey Strategic Partnership commissioned a mapping project of Haringey's Third Sector Organisations. The aim was:
- To provide a strong evidence base against which any improvements in Haringey's Third Sector can be measured
- To understand the size of TSOs in the borough with regards to income, assets, workforce and volunteer force
- To understand the nature of TSO activity in the borough
- To understand the involvement and experience of TSOs in the borough with regards to commissioning
- To provide HAVCO with an enhanced database of TSOs

Our work has not ended and soon we will be consulting our members to see how they want the recommendations implemented.

HAVCO Annual Review 2008-09
HAVCO's annual General Meeting (AGM) held on 15 October at the Cypriot Community Centre was a great success!
We had a great pleasure of networking with our Members, Staff, Trustees and Partners. The event marked the launch of HAVCO Annual Review 2008-09, now downloadable here.

The VCS & The Credit Crunch
Government has published its action plan to help the third sector during the economic downturn. Measures in "Real Help for Communities" include:
- Up to 10m investment in volunteer brokerage scheme for unemployed people.
- A 15.5m Community Resilience Fund to provide grant funding to small and medium providers in our most deprived communities.
- A 16.5m modernisation fund to help with the cost of mergers, partnerships and moves to more efficient sharing of back office functions for at least 3000 third sector organisations.
- A 0.5m investment in the School for Social Entrepreneurs to double the number of people it trains to become social entrepreneurs.

New Compact Commissioning Guidance
The Commission for the Compact have published new implementation guidance for commissioning, designed to "facilitate better working relationships between commissioners of services in national and local public sector bodies and third sector organisations".
